How long will it take to get my question answered?
It all depends on the availability of Experts for the category in which you asked the question. In most cases though, you should receive a response in a matter of minutes.

What is the minimum offer I can make to get my question answered?
The minimum value that you can offer for an answer is $2.

Do I have to pay to see my answer?
Yes you do. You will have to pay a deposit of $5 to see your answer.

Can I get a refund if I am not satisfied with the answer I get?
Yes you can.

Do I have to pay to register?
No. There is no fee associated with registering on Main Answer.

Can I request a particular Expert?
Yes you can. If you feel comfortable working with a particular Expert, you can request that he or she answer your question.

Can I become an Expert?
Yes you can. Simply click 'Become An Expert' when registering or you can do so later from within your account.

Expert FAQs

What is the minimum withdrawal amount?
Minimum withdrawals are $20.

When do I get paid?
Once you reach the minimum withdrawal limit of $20 you can request a payout. Note however that we prefer generally to make payouts at the beginning of the following month at which time we make Mass Payments via PayPal, which means that you get all the money you requested. It would then be best to make your payout request at the end of each month, so long as you reach the minimum withdrawal value. If you choose to request a payout before this time, you will not receive the full amount you requested since PayPal receiver fees will be applied to the money you receive.

Do I have to fill out a mini profile?
Yes you do. If you do not have a mini profile, you will not be able to answer any questions. Mini profiles also help the customer know who is answering their questions as it shows you qualifications, certifications, etc.

Can another Expert answer a question I am currently answering?
No. Once an Expert starts answering a question, it is locked to that Expert only for a minimum time period of 1 hour.

What is the payment structure like?
Experts get up to a maximum of 50% of the money that a customer pays for an answer.

How is the amount of money I get for an answer determined?
There is a rating scheme that decides how much Experts get paid. The customer who asks the question is the one who rates the Expert. The ratings and subsequent percentage of the money paid that the Expert gets is as follows:

Rating - 0 - Very Bad - 0%
Rating - 1 - Not satisfied - 10%
Rating - 2 - Average - 20%
Rating - 3 - Good - 30%
Rating - 4 - Very Good - 40%
Rating - 5 - Excellent - 50%

Do I have to use my real name?
No you do not, but we strongly recommend that you do since customers are more likely to accept answers from Experts who use their real names. We would prefer you do not use aliases.

Do I have to pay to become an Expert?
No, you do not.

Is there a limit as to the number of questions I can answer?
No. There is no limit. Please bear in mind that you can only answer questions in categories that you are an Expert in.

Is there a guarantee that I will make money?
As much as we would like all Experts to be successful at Main Answer, we cannot guarantee that you will make money since it is up to the customers to rate Experts. The ratings, as stated above, decide what percentage of the money paid by customer is received by the Expert. If you consistently get a '0' rating for instance, you will never make any money. Always ensure that your answers are accurate and that you deal courteously with all customers.

What currency do you pay in?
We pay out in United States dollars (USD).

What is the minimum age to become an expert?
Persons desirous of being Experts must be at least 18 years of age.

Can I be an Expert in more than one category?
Yes you can. Just ensure that you complete a mini profile for each category that you want to answer in.
